Tub’s Story: Artist Feature
About Tubs
Tubs is a calligraffiti artist residing in Chicago who works in the mediums of aerosol acrylic and ink. His core love for letters as a graffiti artist and with over fifteen years of experience, has influenced his latest Calligraffiti pieces, which combines traditional form of calligraphy, graffiti-handstyling, and Latino culture bringing forth a never before seen artform in Chicago.
Originality And Style
Tubs’ latest exhibition consists of large scale portrait photography illustrated with Tubs’ iconic calligraphy hand style that pays homage to his heritage, family customs, and the effort it takes to reach success in the city.
As an artist, Tubs’ combines traditional form of calligraphy, graffiti-handstyling, and Latino culture bringing forth a never before seen art form in Chicago. Jack Daniel's Tennessee Flavors are all about inspiring people to live boldly, be brave and go their own way, and that spirit of ingenuity can be seen in every piece of Tubs’ artwork. Tubs takes inspiration from brands like Jack Daniel’s, that share his values of authenticity, creativity and individuality.
For over 20 years, Jack Daniel's has supported art through various partnerships, programs, charitable efforts and talent showcases, and that commitment continues today with the Legacy of Now series spotlighting Tubs.

The Art of Hand-style: In conversation with Tubs, he’ll share the influence of graffiti as well as calligraphy and showcase how both inspired him to define his own alphabet as the basis of his artwork.
The Vanguard Legacy Grant
This activation is an opportunity to uplift diverse artists and give them a platform to showcase their craft, but as they rise up, it’s important they reach back.
The New Vanguard x Equity and Transformation Fund have partnered to establish the Vanguard Legacy Grant for emerging artists who need additional funding towards their craft. Throughout the series we’ll raise funds at each celebration event and award a winner at the end of the campaign.
